About the Exhibition
VARBO ART represents the “Masters Of Graphic Art Of The XX century”, the Armenian section of the Vardges Boyajyan personal collection.
For several years now we have been trying to create, whenever possible, a complete collection of graphic works of great European masters of Armenian descent.
We present at this exhibition about 260 works by three authors, such as Edgar Chahine, Jean Carzou and Jean Jansem.
We tried to collect and present the works of each author for different years. These are graphic drawings, lithographs, etchings and book illustrations.
In the works of Edgar Chahine, Carzou and Jansem book illustrations occupy a large place. We are pleased that we have managed today to get the truly unique rare artworks of Chahine, Carzou and Jansem.
Today it is almost impossible to find the original artworks of Edgar Chahine. The fire in his workshop in 1926 and the flood in Paris in 1942 almost completely destroyed his artwork.
Today in our collection you can see not only wonderful etchings and rare books, but also two original works by Chahine.
This is a truly unique and successful acquisition for us.
Our collection also includes a series of works that have never been commercially available. These are the lithographs of Jansem, made by special order of one American construction company, which were to decorate the 100 exclusive mansions built by this company.
Exclusively interesting work “Communication” Carzou, made by special order of UNESCO for the exhibition “Science and Technology” in New York in the 1985th year. We present here not only the original graphic drawing, but also a very rare color lithography.
VARBO ART has two goals: The first goal is to return to Armenia and acquaint the Armenian people with the works of European, world-famous artists of Armenian descent (those whose parents were scattered around the world because of the Great Armenian Genocide in 1915).
The second is to present the world Armenian culture and modern Armenian artists.
In addition to galleries in Prague and in Yerevan, VARBO ART intends to open the same in other European art centers. We believe that we will succeed.
We are keeping up our collection with new arts and we’ll always share them with you.
We are looking forward to new meetings.
